Saudi architecture is undergoing an important transformation today, with a growing number of projects attempting to reinterpret local architectural heritage through a contemporary language, rather than literally replicating traditional elements.

At AKA, we view heritage as a source of principles rather than ready-made forms: shading, the internal courtyard, human scale, and the relationship with the local climate are all principles that can be re-expressed with contemporary materials and techniques.

This approach allows us to produce architecture that belongs to its cultural context without becoming historical decoration — an approach we apply in particular to our cultural and tourism projects.
