Sustainable Design in a Desert Climate

SUSTAINABILITY

The desert climate of Saudi Arabia presents clear environmental challenges: high heat for most of the year, intense direct solar radiation, and significant temperature swings between day and night.

Genuine sustainability begins with the earliest design decisions: building orientation, the ratio of openings to solid mass, and external shading treatments — before any mechanical intervention in cooling systems.

In our projects, we always try to make these decisions part of the design concept itself, not an afterthought, achieving real energy efficiency without sacrificing the quality of the architectural space.
